Glorious Goodwood Richmond Stakes The Richmond Stakes is a Group Two race over 6 furlong’s for two year old thoroughbred colts and geldings. It was first run in 1877 and is named after the Duke of Richmond, who’s family were the racing pioneers of Goodwood. It is always worth watching this one closely as it will give us those stars who could have big futures as three-year olds the following season. That is highlighted with last years winner Dick Turpin, he has turned into a top class three-year old who has been featuring in all the top races this season including an excellent second in the St James Palace Stakes at the Royal Meeting.

Libranno goes today for Richard Hannon and Richard Hughes who have been having a great week so far at Goodwood, he is likely to go off favourite to add to their tally and he will be a warm favourite.

Richard Hughes asked the question of Dick Turpin with a couple of furlongs left and he simply bounded away from the field to win by a comfortable margin. Buzzword was a way 2nd but he did finish really well ahead of Stargaze but none were the match for the winner.
